A Taste of Sacred Earth, Sacred Table…

About The Author

Sophia Young is a vegetarian and plant-based cook, writer and facilitator, living in Devon with her children. She deeply loves working with that which has grown from the earth and hold an infinite fascination in the alchemic processes that imbue ingredients with divine taste and flavour. She is passionate about engaging people in both the pleasure of cooking, as well as the everyday activism of preparing meals and eating with each other, and how we can create simple, yet inherently powerful change in exploring the ways we participate, commune and ‘break bread’ together.

Sophia has a fervent wish to ‘tear up the divorce papers from source’ and help transform our present food culture and the systems it exists within. She believes everyone deserves equitable opportunity to affordable, nutritious sustenance, and hope to encourage ways to instigate more key-hold in our agency to help shift the disparity towards greater accessibility for good food for all. Sophia considers sharing food together and cultivating community kinship into the heart of our daily actions, as formidable acts of both love and defiance.

Sophia’s background is as an artist and studied Fine Art Textiles at Goldsmiths University. She is also a trained aquatic bodyworker and developed ‘Waterbody’, supporting people to deepen their relationship with water through somatic movement, mediation and artistic practice. Throughout all of Sophia’s career, her inspiration is driven by working with the elements ~ earth, fire, water, air, to explore our intrinsic connection with the beautiful planet that we inhabit. And through inviting a playful and compassionate approach in growing and working with food, she hopes to enliven empowerment and curiosity in the kitchen and fundamentally at heart, reignite our love and care for our environment and each other as we cook.
